Soak the lentils overnight in a sufficient amount of water.
Boil the meat in one piece for one hour in the vegetable broth, then remove and cut into bite-sized pieces.
Fry the bacon with the onions. Cut greens into small pieces and add to vegetable broth along with bacon, onions, lentils and potatoes. Let everything boil for 25 minutes.
Add marjoram and season with salt and pepper.
