Line three baking sheets with parchment paper, taped at the corners with a little butter. Put the chocolate in a bowl and melt over a water bath. Stir occasionally with a wooden spoon until you get a smooth mixture after about 10 minutes.

Do not allow the water in the bottom pot to boil under any circumstances! Drop the chocolate by teaspoonfuls onto the baking sheets, spacing enough apart. Using the back of a small spoon, spread out into circles about 4 inches in diameter. Allow for a total of 36 pieces.

Immediately, before the chocolate sets, place a piece of each blob of all the dried fruit and the sliced almonds and press down. Allow the confection to set in the refrigerator. Use a spatula to carefully loosen from the base. In a tightly sealed container, the confection will stay fresh in a cool place for up to a week.
