Heat fat in a higher pan (deep fryer). Sift flour, powdered sugar, baking powder into a bowl.
Add sour cream, vanilla sugar, rum, egg and salt and quickly mix until smooth.
Cut small dumplings from the dough with a coffee spoon and fry them in the hot fat for about 4-5 minutes.
Drain well on paper towels. Sprinkle cream dumplings with cocoa and/or powdered sugar.
Serve with compote or raspberry juice. Serve immediately.
