Turn the potatoes into jacket potatoes with the caraway seeds (the caraway seeds give the potatoes a really great flavor). After cooking, drain the potatoes and rinse off the remaining caraway seeds.
Peel the potatoes (of course, otherwise they won’t be jacket potatoes) and let them cool down.
(goes faster if they are in cold water).
Cut potatoes into finger-thick strips. Heat the deep fryer to 180° C and fry the potato strips one by one.
into the hot fat. Do not put in too many, otherwise they will bake together.
After about 2-3 minutes, a thin crust will have formed on the potato strips.
Now take out the strips and put them into a bowl. Then put the next strips into the hot fat. Keep going until all the strips are pre-fried. When the strips are ready, peel the onion, cut it into small cubes and put it into a bowl.
The prepared fries are now fried to the end, here the basket of the fryer can now be filled completely, because the fries no longer stick to each other.
Nevertheless, gently move the basket once in a while to keep the fries ‘moving’.
When the fries have a golden outer skin, take them out, put them on a plate / in a bowl, put ketchup and mayonnaise on them and finally spread the onions on top.
