Clean leeks and steam in a little salted water with 1 pinch of nutmeg for approx. 5 – 10 minutes until firm to the bite.
Take out and let drain.
Collect the cooking water and keep warm.
For the sauce, melt 50 g margarine in a pot. Stir in flour, then gradually add the collected cooking water. Whisk until smooth and bring to a boil. Then stir in the cheese and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Wrap the ham slices around the leek and fry them all around in 2 tablespoons of heated margarine. Serve with the cheese sauce. Serve with mashed potatoes. A very simple recipe that is quick to prepare and also goes down well with children.
