Soak the bread in 125 ml of milk, squeeze it, peel the onion, chop it finely. Knead the bread into the meat, add all the other ingredients except the eggs, milk, oil and bay leaves and knead well, fry hotly in hot oil, add the bay leaves and let them color well. Put everything in a sufficiently large buttered ovenproof dish. Whisk the eggs in the milk, pour over the meat mixture (do not mix) and bake in the oven at 180° for about 50 minutes. (The egg-milk mixture must be firm).
