Wash apples thoroughly, quarter, core and cut into wedges.
Sprinkle with a little lemon juice so that they do not turn brown. Peel onions and cut into thin rings. Heat three tablespoons of fat in a large frying pan. Add the onion rings and fry until brown. Remove and keep warm. Now fry the apple slices briefly on both sides in the onion fat, also remove and keep warm. Heat the remaining fat and fry the meat loaf on both sides for 2 minutes. As a side dish, mashed potatoes taste good.
