Peel and finely dice the onions. Sauté in hot oil for approx. 5-7 min. Peel the garlic cloves, press through and add. Cut the chili pepper into fine strips. Chop the walnuts not quite as finely. Stir in both. Pour in the hot vegetable broth and sprinkle in the herbs with the Parmesan. Add pepper as needed and stir in the crème fraiche, but do not let it boil up again. If necessary, bind with a little flour.
