Grease a shallow baking dish.
Halve the onions, cut into thin slices and spread on the bottom of the baking dish. Peel the potatoes, wash, pat dry, also cut into thin slices and spread overlapping on the onions. Season with salt and pepper. Grate the cheese and sprinkle it on the potatoes. Mix the cream (milk) with broth and eggs, season with pepper, nutmeg and salt and pour evenly over the potatoes. The potatoes should be completely covered with liquid. Then sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top, put some butter flakes on top, put the casserole dish in the preheated oven (200°C) and bake for 50-60 minutes. If the casserole becomes too brown, cover with aluminum foil.
