Put the chestnuts and the cream cheese (or soy cream) in a container and mix. Alternatively, you can mash the chestnuts with a fork beforehand and then add them to the cream cheese (or soy cream).
Grate the ginger and add it. Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and mixed herbs.
Tastes especially good on toasted bread. For vegans, use the soy cream rather sparingly as a substitute for cream cheese. If you want to replace the cream cheese as a non-vegan, then quark offers a good option (perhaps then with a dash of oil or cream).
