Peel the rutabaga, potatoes, carrots, apple and onion and cut into not too small cubes. Pour the vegetable cubes into a large pot, sprinkle with the vegetable broth and season vigorously with pepper. Stir everything well, then add the meat (only the meat – not the sausages) and pour water as needed (until the vegetables are covered). Let everything cook for about 1- 1 1/2 hours.
About 20 minutes before the end, first add the sausages and reduce the heat. Then remove the meat and sausages.
Mash the ingredients in the pot until you either have real mush or you can still see a few pieces – to taste. Arrange on plates, spread the meat and sausages and serve hot. I always cook it this way because it doesn’t taste so much like rutabaga and is rather sweet, then even kids like it. Who likes it rather strong, should take less carrots and omit the apple.
